SUNY Syracuse Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee

January 5, 2024

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) inducted its newest class of honorees into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 29, 2023. The event at the College's Gateway Center welcomed golf, soccer, lacrosse and basketball athletes and two championship cross country teams. Among the newest inductees is Delt alumnus John Dean (Syracuse, 1959).

Dean played four years of lacrosse and was on the undefeated national co-champs team in 1957 with all-American teammate Jim Brown. Dean received a Syracuse University Letter of Distinction. His other accolades include the University of Missouri Academy of Distinguished Chemical Engineering Alumni (Honorary) and the Veterans Hospital Director's commendation, Columbia, Missouri.

The ESF Athletic Hall of Fame was created to honor former students, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff, and members of the ESF community whose contributions have brought distinction, honor and excellence to ESF athletics and highlighted the College’s rich athletic history.

Dean also served as chapter advisor and alumni academic advisor to the Gamma Kappa Chapter at the University of Missouri.
