Experiential Education Partnership Announced

Delta Tau Delta Fraternity Supported by the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation Signs Partnership with Outward Bound to Deliver Adventure-Based Leadership Development Programming.

Delta Tau Delta announced today a newly formed partnership with Outward Bound, the premier global organization known for its transformative outdoor education programs. This collaboration aims to empower individual members of Delta Tau Delta through experiential learning, outdoor adventure and leadership development.

Through this partnership, Delta Tau Delta will offer various wilderness expeditions where participants develop critical life skills, enhance leadership capacities and foster a strong sense of community with other members of Delta Tau Delta. By combining the resources and expertise of both organizations under Delta Tau Delta’s COMPASS Experiences menu of program offerings, this initiative will provide access to high-quality programs that challenge participants to step out of their comfort zones, build resilience and become leaders throughout their lives.

For nearly 100 years, Outward Bound has been at the forefront of adventure-based education, fostering personal growth, teamwork, and leadership skills amongst participants. The Outward Bound philosophy mirrors the beliefs of Delta Tau Delta, underscoring that character building and leadership development are just as important as academic achievement. Leveraging this notion, participants leave the program having gained confidence, redefined their own perceptions of their personal possibilities, demonstrated compassion, and developed a spirit of camaraderie with one another.

During excursions reserved especially for members of Delta Tau Delta, Outward Bound will take our members into pristine wilderness environments and help them discover strengths they didn’t know they had. Each excursion will last seven days and is an essential confidence-building experience. Excursion activities include backpacking, canyoneering, mountaineering, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, or sailing. Whether travel is on foot, by raft, or under sail, participants emerge to find out that they can do more than they thought they could.

New Giving Circle Announced

In conjunction with this new program offering, the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation is pleased to announce the formation of the Hudson Stuck Giving Circle. This giving circle, named for Mt. Denali expedition leader Hudson Stuck (Sewanee, 1892), is reserved for loyal donors committed to the delivery of new and innovative experiential education programs. Giving circles are a means of bringing donors together in support of a common cause. Currently, the Hudson Stuck Giving Circle is focused on executing the partnership with the world-renowned organization Outward Bound, offering once-in-a-lifetime opportunities at little or no cost to young Delts.
