Weekly Football Highlights Sept 29

Butler head coach Jeff Voris (DePauw University, 1990) led his squad to a 25-24 Homecoming victory over Campbell and is now 3-1 this season. Marist head coach Jim Parady (University of Maine, 1984) lost a close 20-16 game to Jacksonville. Seeing offensive line action again for 3-1 Stanford in a 42-24 win over Oregon State was Brendon Austin. Fullback Brady Strodtbeck saw some playing time for Idaho in a 44-20 loss to Georgia Southern. NFL kicker Randy Bullock (Texas A&M University, 2012) helped lead his Houston Texans to their first victory of the season over Tampa Bay. He booted 39 and 19 yard field goals plus an extra point in a 19-9 win.

Thirteen Delts played key roles for 3-0 DePauw in a 45-7 win over Hiram. Jason Kirchhoff caught four passes for 89 yards and rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown. Catching touchdown passes were receiver Jake Hagan, tight end Tyler Leising and back Joe Buckley. Amen Galley was the top rusher (68 yards) and Connor Jeffers caught four passes. Offensive line starters were Kody Bontreger, Cody Campbell, Hunter Logan and Jeremy Trudell. Defensive backs Zac Fouche and Rocky Leffler had interceptions and lineman Chris Hawk had four stops.

Westminster increased its record to 3-1 after defeating Greenville, 30-20 as defensive lineman Ayo Oyesanya made seven tackles, including two for losses. Kenyon beat Allegheny, 32-17, as linebacker Saxon Justice had four tackles and kicker Szabi Simo had a 27-yard FG and six kickoffs for a 62.0 average. Playing well in a Lawrence loss to Knox were fullback Dalton Sendelback, who scored the team’s only touchdown; receiver Trevor Spina (five receptions for 41 yards) and linebacker Jacob Lueck (eight tackles).
