Weekly Football Highlights Sept 22

As the college football season closes its first month of play in 2015, Delt undergraduates are seeing action at a number of schools. Stanford offensive lineman Brendon Austin has played in two games, including last weekend’s big win over USC. Fullback Brady Strodtbeck and safety Jack Tate are on the Idaho squad once again. Twelve Delts are on the Baker squad which is currently 3-0. Leading players are running back Jordan Brown, quarterback Logan Brettell, defensive back Hayden Jones plus defensive linemen Josh Koch and Travis Ray.

Key regulars for DePauw include running backs Jason Kirchoff and Amen Galley plus receivers Conner Jeffers and Tyler Leissing. Returning offensive line starters are Kody Bontreger and Cody Campbell while back Hamm Hooper is a key defender. Linebacker Sason Justice returns as a leading tackler for Kenyon and Srabi Simo handles the place kicking chores. Playing well for 2-1 Westminster is tackle Ayo Oyesanya (23 tackles, three sacks).

Thirteen Delts are on the Lawrence squad. Trevor Spina led with seven catches for 94 yards in last weekend’s win over Beloit and Dalton Sendelbach started at fullback. Offensive line starters were center Pat Pierson, guards Mitch Ives and Sosaeh Connahvichnah plus tackles Jackson Straughan and Pip Wasserburg. Lawrence defensive starters are linebacker Jacob Lueck and backs Nick Ulloa and Wes Hetcher. Returning as college head coaches are Jeff Voris (DePauw University, 1990) at Butler University and Jim Parady (University of Maine, 1984) at Marist College).

Our Delts on active NFL rosters so far are kicker Randy Bullock (Texas A&M, 2012) of the Houston Texans and deep snapper Tanner Purdum (Baker University, 2005) of the New York Jets.
