Weekly Football Highlights Oct 6

Stanford offensive lineman Brendon Austin has now played in four games as the Cardinal improved their record to 4-1 with a 55-17 win over Arizona. Fullback Brady Strodtbeck saw action in an Idaho 39-35 loss to Arkansas State. The 3-1 Butler squad of head coach Jeff Voris (DePauw University, 1990) was idle this weekend but Marist head coach Jim Parady (University of Maine, 1984) had a tough 30-27 loss on the West Coast to San Diego. One of the top rated NAIA teams, Baker University, improved its record to 5-1 after a 35-10 victory over Peru State. Seeing action were quarterback Logan Brettell, running back Jordan Brown and defensive lineman Josh Koch.

DePauw won its fourth straight game, 38-16, over Kenyon as six Delts played well. Jason Kirchhoff rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Amen Galley gained 59 yards and scored two TDs. Catching passes were Jake Hagan and Ian Good while Connor Jeffers had three kickoff returns for a 22.7 average. Defensive back Hamm Hooper was in on four tackles for DePauw. Kenyon linebacker Saxon Justice had his top career game (22 tackles) and teammate Szabi Simo booted a 24 yard field goal and an extra point. Lineman Ayo Oyesanya of 3-2 Westminster had six tackles (including a sack) in a loss to Crown College. Playing well in a 28-20 Lawrence loss to Grinnell were linebacker Jacob Lueck (eight tackles), back Nick Ulloa (five stops) and receiver Cole Erickson (four catches and a 28 yard kickoff return).
