Weekly Football Highlights Oct 23

In the opening round of the NAIA playoffs, Baker quarterback Logan Brettell tied a school record with six touchdown passes (28 of 36 for 419 yards) and was NAIA FCS Offensive Player of the Game in a 68-21 victory over Point College. Also playing well for the Wildcats were running back Jordan Brown (two catches, five rushes), defensive back Hayden Jenkins and defensive lineman Josh Koch. On November 28th, 11-1 Baker plays NAIA defending national champion Southern Oregon at home. Offensive lineman Brandon Austin played in Stanford’s 35-22 Big Game win over California-Berkeley. The 9-2 Cardinal’s final regular season game is against Notre Dame next weekend.

The Butler squad and head coach Jeff Voris (DePauw University, 1990) finished with a 6-5 record after a last-second loss, 28-27, on a successful two point try by San Diego. Marist head coach Jim Parady (University of Maine, 1984) finished at 5-6 after a 28-27 loss to Morehead State on a field goal with 16 seconds left. Idaho defensive back Jack Tate saw action in a 56-34 loss to Auburn. In NFL action, New York Jets kicker Randy Bullock (Texas A&M University, 2012) kicked a 40 yard field goal and two extra points in a 24-17 loss to his former team, the Houston Texans.
