Weekly Football Highlights Oct 20

Stanford improved its record to 5-1 with a 56-35 win over USC as offensive lineman Brendon Austin played in his fifth contest. Fullback Brady Strodtbeck and defensive back Jack Tate saw action in an Idaho 19-16 win over Troy. The Butler squad of head coach Jeff Voris (DePauw University, 1990) improved its record to 4-2 with a 38-7 victory over Davidson. NAIA’s forth-ranked team, Baker University, improved its record to 6-1 after a 42-14 victory over Avila. Seeing action were quarterback Logan Brettell, running back Jordan Brown, defensive back Hayden Jenkins and lineman Josh Koch, who had five tackles.

DePauw is now 6-0 after beating Allegheny, 50-0. Jason Kirchhoff rushed for 111 yards, including a 39 yard touchdown. Jake Hagan caught six passes for 95 yards, including an 18 yard score, while Ian Good scored TDs on a 14 yard catch and six yard run. Defensive back Rocky Leffler posted four tackles, including two for losses; lineman Zac Fouche had three stops; and back Ray Webb intercepted a pass. In a Kenyon loss to Wabash, linebacker Saxon Justice made six tackles and teammate Robbie Mallen-West ran back four kickoffs, including a 25-yarder. Lineman Ayo Oyesanya of 5-2 Westminster had six tackles (including a sack) in a 61-7 win over Martin Luther. Playing well in a 42-6 Lawrence loss to Carrolll were linebacker Jacob Lueck (co-high nine tackles) and back Wes Hetcher (five tackles).
