Weekly Football Highlights Oct 13

Marist College head coach Jim Parady (University of Maine, 1984), now in his 24th year, won his first game of the season by a 13-10 score over Campbell. Meanwhile, Butler head coach Jeff Voris (DePauw University, 1990) now has a 3-2 season record after a 34-21 loss to Morehead State. Four of our schools with football players (Stanford, Idaho, Baker and Lawrence) were idle this weekend.

DePauw won it’s fifth straight game, 35-30 over Wittenberg. Stars on offense were Connor Jeffers (29 yard TD catch); top rusher Jason Kirchhoff (11 for 50 yards), second-leading runner Amen Galley (11 for 41 yards) and receiver Jake Hagan (five catches for 63 yards). Other starters were receiver Ian Good, tight end Tyler Leissing, tackle Hunter Logan plus guards Kody Bontreger and Cody Campbell. Key defenders were tackle Chris Hawk (six tackles, including two sacks) and back Hamm Hooper (five stops).

Westminster increased its record to 4-2 after beating Eureka, 26-18, as lineman Ayo Oyesanya made four tackles. Kenyon had a 23-20 overtime loss to Ohio Wesleyan as kicker Szabi Simo had two field goals, two extra points and five kickoffs (63.0 average). Linebacker Saxon Justice made four tackles and Robbie Mallen-West ran back two kickoffs for a 23.0 average.
