Stanford is now 7-1 and in the Top 10 after a 30-28 victory over Washington State. Seeing action again was offensive lineman Brandon Austin. Marist College head coach Jim Parady (University of Maine, 1984) won the battle of Delt head coaches, defeating Jeff Voris (DePauw University, 1990) and his Butler squad by a 35-14 score. Both schools now have a 4-4 record in the Pioneer Football League. Idaho lost a high-scoring 55-48 game to New Mexico State as fullback Brady Strodtbeck saw played on special teams.
DePauw got back on the winning track and is now 7-1 after beating Denison, 31-29, on a last-second field goal. Connor Jeffers caught five passes, including a 15 yard TD catch, and averaged 21.5 on two kickoff returns. Other key receivers were Jake Hagan (four catches for 35 yards) and Tyler Leising (two receptions, including a 56 yarder). Leading DePauw defenders were tackle Chris Hawk (four tackles, one sack) and back Hamm Hooper (four stops).
Baker is 8-1 after a 40-21 win over Central Methodist as quarterback Logan Brettell had a career-best 36 completions in 43 attempts for 398 yards and three TDs. Other standouts were running back Jordan Brown (36 yards on eight carries), lineman Josh Koch (seven tackles) and back Hayden Jenkins (six stops, including a forced fumble). Case Western Reserve is now 7-1 as defensive end Jason Lockamy played in a 34-16 victory over Washington-St. Louis. Westminster, now 5-4, lost 48-12 to St. Scholastica as lineman Ayo Oyesanya had two tackles, including a sack.
Kenyon lost 49-42 to the College of Wooster as three Delts played well. Linebacker Saxon Justice was third with eight stops; Szabi Simo booted six extra points and averaged 58.0 on seven kickoffs; and back Robbie Mallen-West averaged 26.0 yards on six kickoff returns. In a Lawrence loss to St. Norbert, receiver Cole Erickson caught four passes for 53 yards and had a 66 yard kickoff return. Key defenders were back Nick Ulloa (eight tackles), inebacker Jacob Lueck (seven stops) and Wes Hetcher (five tackles).
