Second Surge Incentive

Now more than ever, the world needs more Delts, and we are committed to being the biggest and best fraternity on every campus. Recruitment is the lifeblood of the Fraternity—and sustained growth is how we become First Among Equals.

We are excited to announce the launch of our Second Surge Incentive to recognize chapters that continue to recruit after the initial spring surge and refuse to be outpaced by their peers.

What is a Second Surge?

A second surge is defined as any group of new members pledged after March 1.

Any chapter that recruits and reports new members between March 1 and May 30 will automatically earn tiered rewards to directly strengthen their Fall 2026 recruitment efforts:

  • 5 new members → Fall 2026 Recruitment Banner
  • 8 new members → $500 credit toward your Fall 2026 Recruitment Budget
  • 12 new members → Fall 2026 Pop-Up Tent

Reporting

You will report new members as usual through MyDelt. It is also important to report the second pledge date and initiation date to Kathy Sargent, chapter services administrative assistant at kathy.sargent@delts.org

FAQ

My chapter has not recruited yet this spring, are we still eligible?

  • Yes! Any chapter reporting new members after March 1, 2026 becomes eligible for the Second Surge Incentive, even if it previously reported it would not be taking new members this spring.

My chapter typically only recruits in the fall. How do we support our new members this spring?

  • Many chapters ask what spring recruitment or year-round recruitment looks like on their campus if they are typically used to only recruiting in the fall. The short answer: it can look however you want it to. We recommend building a names list of men you know or want to get to know on campus. Then, start by building connections with those names. Try inviting them to lunch or a brotherhood event. Year-round recruitment can look any way you want it to look; you don’t need to invest a lot of money to build relationships and recruit.

How do we continue to recruit after formal recruitment has ended?

  • Right after formal recruitment is one of the best times to start your year-round recruitment process. We recommend you first reach out to campus or IFC and ask for a no-bids list. This is a great way to start your names list for your second surge! Then, start planning how you want to build connections with the PNMs on your list. This can be as easy as 1-on-1 meetings with PNMs or could even include planning another recruitment event. Your chapter leadership consultant can help you plan the specifics of continuing recruitment past the formal recruitment period.

How do we build our Second Surge Names List?

  • There are so many ways to do this, but our favorites include asking for a no bids list from IFC and by completing Mind Joggers with your chapter members. Need more help building your names list? Ask your chapter leadership consultant!

What resources can the Central Office provide?

  • You can access all recruitment resources by visiting the Officer Resources tab in myDelt, your chapter leadership consultant, and our assistant director of recruitment support.

What does New Member Education and Initiation look like for a Second Surge?

  • Depending on timing of when you pledge these men, you can do a condensed new member education program. A 6-week new member education program can be found in MyDelt. For individual questions regarding new member education, reach out to your chapter leadership consultant or the assistant director of officer education.

Do we automatically win an incentive if we recruit, or are we entered into a drawing?

  • You automatically win! Once you report your Second Surge, someone from our growth team will reach out to you with next steps!

What happens if we already have the incentive item we win?

  • No worries! Someone from our growth team will be in touch with you to discuss options we can substitute.

Why should we participate?

  • The short answer? The world needs more Delts. Additionally, we know that adding new members to our chapters can add additional perspectives and strengths to the chapter, preparing it better for the fall semester. Lastly, adding a second surge of new members helps the chapter reach their 2026 recruitment goal, which was announced in January.
