Meet Our People

Raj Patel is currently the senior leader of the Boeing South Carolina (BSC) Engineering Design Center (EDC). He is responsible for leading engineering workforce strategy, including the K-12 and college-to-entry level programs. The EDC is responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining top talent for the engineering team and Patel is responsible for establishing strategies and executing tactics.

Patel received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Central Florida and his master’s degree in business management from Rollins College. He joined Boeing in 1999 on the Space Station & Shuttle program. He has worked in various leadership roles in Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), including as the senior leader for the Operational Excellence group, supporting the optimization of production systems and supply chains across all programs.

Patel moved to Charleston in 2015 on special assignment as a part of the Productivity Leadership Development Program (PLDP). In this role, Patel was tasked with improving the overall cost and performance of the widebody airplane program while coaching executive leaders in how to use McKinsey’s Change Management Model.

Patel was named a NASA Space Flight honoree, been recognized for Engineering Excellence by the American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin, and in 2020, was named “South Carolina Coach of the Year” by the South Carolina FIRST organization.
