LSU Delt Holds Groundbreaking for new Shelter

On May 20, 2026, LSU administration, alumni, and students were on hand for the groundbreaking of the new Epsilon Kappa shelter on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The new shelter, to be constructed off of West Lakeshore Drive, will house approximately 35 students, have common areas for both formal and informal occasions, and porches and patios to maximize its location along the scenic University Lake.

Epsilon Kappa made its return to LSU’s campus in 2023, quickly growing to 120 men within the short three-year return. The chapter is currently housed in the former Theta Xi house on fraternity row.

Epsilon Kappa president, Aiden Scherer, spoke of the occasion: “Thanks to the collaboration of our housing corporation and LSU administration, we’ve been able to go from having chapter [meetings] in Coates 143 to chapter [meetings] in a 13-million-dollar home we get to call ours.”

“Speaking on behalf of all Delta Tau Delta alumni, we are eternally grateful to LSU for allowing us to come back to this great campus,” said Doug Tate (LSU, 1994). “We would also not be in this position without the generous donations from the DTD brothers worldwide.”

Mason Jacobs, Epsilon Kappa director of communications, highlighted the future that the shelter will pave for their chapter: “Knowing I will be able to experience this house during my final year in college makes it even more meaningful, and I am looking forward to seeing how the brotherhood will continue to expand within this new home.”
