Delta Tau Delta Returns to Virginia Tech
BLACKSBURG, Va.—Guided by Virginia Tech’s motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Delta Tau Delta Fraternity celebrated its return to campus with the installation of the Iota Zeta Chapter on November 16, 2024. After a seven-year absence, the Fraternity proudly welcomed 29 Founding Fathers who took the Oath of a Delt on the 22nd anniversary of the chapter’s original founding.
The day’s ceremonies took place in Litton-Reaves Hall, where the Founding Fathers signed the chapter’s charter alongside Delta Tau Delta International President Anthony J. Albanese (The American University, 1996). Albanese delivered a keynote address at the evening banquet, urging the men to carry forward the Fraternity’s mission, “Committed to Lives of Excellence.” Members of the Kappa Beta Chapter from James Madison University performed the Ritual, officially initiating the Iota Zeta Founding Fathers into Delta Tau Delta. Delta Tau Delta’s return to Virginia Tech comes as no surprise in a fraternity and sorority community known for its strength and camaraderie. Virginia Tech has a vibrant Greek system and unwavering support from university staff, including Director Abbi Hanson Allen and Hannah Orndorff, who is the chapter’s assigned chapter coach on campus.
Regional Governor Derek B. Olive (Western Kentucky University, 1991) and Chapter Advisor James W. Freeman (Virginia Tech, 2003) joined Iota Zeta alumni, Fraternity staff, and university officials to mark the chapter’s return. Chief Executive Officer Jack C. Kreman (University of Nebraska at Kearney, 2004) served as the emcee for the evening banquet. The project was led by Joe C. Hiatt (University of Nebraska at Kearney, 2024) and James R. Wallen III (Colorado State University, 2024), who recruited the founding members during the expansion process.
Delta Tau Delta extends its gratitude to Virginia Tech’s Fraternity and Sorority Life Office and the Iota Zeta volunteer advising team.
