Delta Tau Delta Members and Chapter Earn National Interfraternity Conference Awards
INDIANAPOLIS — Delta Tau Delta is proud to announce that one advisor, one undergraduate chapter, and two undergraduate members have been recognized with 2025 North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) Awards of Distinction, honoring excellence in fraternity leadership, advising, and chapter success.
Gene Pregeant (Southeastern Louisiana University, 1980) received the Advisor Award of Distinction for his more than three decades of service to Delta Tau Delta's Epsilon Phi chapter. Since the 1990s, Pregeant has mentored generations of undergraduate members through a deeply personal, values-driven approach that has shaped countless young leaders and exemplified the highest standards of fraternity advising.
The Theta Kappa chapter at the University of Nebraska at Kearney earned the Chapter Award of Distinction, recognizing collegiate chapters that demonstrate excellence in operations, leadership, and campus involvement. The chapter posted the highest fraternity and sorority GPA on campus this spring with a 3.726 while maintaining a strong presence in student government, the Interfraternity Council, Order of Omega, and Delta Tau Delta's national leadership programs.
Two Delta Tau Delta undergraduates were also recognized with the Undergraduate Award of Distinction.
Shawn Powers Jr. (University of Georgia, 2025) was honored for transforming his chapter during two terms as president, leading significant membership growth, establishing a culture of accountability, and serving nationally as a Student Director on Delta Tau Delta's Governing Board.
Owen Wright (University of Colorado Boulder, 2026) received the award for his leadership as Interfraternity Council president, where he guided the fraternity community through a significant transition while launching a Brotherhood Grant Program to support chapter programming and strengthen the undergraduate fraternity experience.
Presented annually by the North American Interfraternity Conference, the Awards of Distinction recognize fraternity chapters, advisors, alumni, and undergraduate members who exemplify excellence in leadership, service, scholarship, and the advancement of the fraternity experience.
