Amplifying Her Voice
Iota Psi Chapter at Northeastern University and Kappa Kappa Gamma jointly hosted Dora Moono Nyambe and Joseph Schmitt (Northeastern University, 2019), a Fulbright scholar and ecotourism researcher, as guest speakers on Feb. 28, 2023. The event was part of a book tour for the release of “Under a Zambian Tree,” an account of Nyambe’s quest to fight poverty with education, written by Schmitt. At age 27 Nyambe moved to Mapapa, Zambia and single-handedly built a boarding school of more than 200 students — 13 of which she adopted. “I’m trying to amplify her voice,” Schmitt said.
