Practicing Ritual - Scott Heydt, Director of Academic Affairs

Practice (v): to perform or do repeatedly in order to acquire a skill.

Ritual (n): a prescribed code of behavior regulating social conduct.

The Outer Mysteries inform us we live in the society of man-that Delts must interpret the word "social" in its broader meaning. Our Fraternity's initiatory rite is more than just a once per semester necessity or a means to completing accreditation paperwork. It is a way to acquire the skills of social conduct by deeply reflecting upon our four fundamental principles-Truth, Courage, Faith, and Power. When your chapter practices the Ritual, it practices the ideals of a manly life.

But as you advance into that society of man, the formality and regalia of initiation is unnecessary. For as you can practice an occupation or religion anytime anywhere, so can you practice the Ritual. Therefore, whether in the chapter hall or the halls of Congress, let the badge over your heart be a silent witness to a Delt practicing his Ritual with selflessness and nobility.

2011 Division Conferences - Accountability is Fundamental

Encourage brothers to attend the 2011 Division Conference!

The mission of Delta Tau Delta is Committed to Lives of Excellence. Our core values include the statement, "Accountability is Fundamental to All Commitments." This also serves as the theme for the 2011 Division Conferences. What does "Accountability is Fundamental to All Commitments" mean? Accountability means holding yourself responsible for your words and actions, and also holding others responsible for theirs. Accountability binds us together as a group; it helps us be able to depend on one another.

What can you, as an alumni volunteer do to help encourage undergraduates, local alumni and volunteers to attend the 2011 Division Conference?

  • Encourage participation in educational sessions for undergraduate leaders and up-and-coming undergraduates
  • Emphasize the impact The Road curriculum will provide to undergraduates in helping to build life skills
  • Stress the networking opportunities presented to alumni in the area
  • Promote the opportunity to experience a truly unique brotherhood event to undergraduates and alumni alike

The 2011 Division Conferences guarantee to provide educational and inspirational opportunities across the board, so please sign up today!
