Bob MarwillBob Marwill was appointed President of the Western Plains Division by then-acting President Alan Brackett in December, 2009. Previously Marwill had been appointed a Western Division Vice President in 1986, serving until 2000. He has attended eight Karneas, served on the Fraternity’s Nominating Committee, was Chairman of the Time & Place Committee, was appointed by Wayne Sinclair to the Sesquicentennial Commission for the 2008 Karnea, and is a proud member of the Distinguished Service Chapter. In 2006, Marwill began the effort to bring a Karnea back to Texas after 56 years. Since approval in 2006 of Austin, Texas as the official site for the 2012 Karnea, Marwill has been organizing a committee of Delts from all Texas and Oklahoma chapters, with support from the entire Western Plains Division, to plan a never-to-be-forgotten Karnea experience for what is expected to be a record attendance. Marwill’s volunteer service to his own chapter at Texas began in 1981, as secretary of the Gamma Iota House Corporation, continuing until 2005. Additionally, Marwill has chaired Gamma Iota Chapter’s Centennial celebration in 2004, as well as two reunions of 1950s Texas Delts. As an undergraduate, he served as house manager, treasurer and vice president, and represented his chapter at the 1956 Western Division Conference in Ames, Iowa. Marwill received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas, and served for 14 years as a member of the Engineering Foundation Advisory Council of the U.T. College of Engineering. During his more than 40 years in the construction industry, Marwill has served as president and owner of his own general contracting firm, and as president of two other major construction companies. Today, he is engaged in business development for Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Company in Dallas. He has served as president of both the Dallas chapter of the Associated General Contractors (1994), and the Houston chapter of the Mechanical Contractors Association (1974). Marwill has three children, including one Delt, plus eight grandchildren. He and his wife Phyllis live in Addison, Texas. |
