2012 Division Conferences
PROGRAMMING TRACKS
What are the programming tracks?
The programming tracks are new this year to all division conferences. The tracks are extended education sessions designed to focus on specific officers and leadership. The programming tracks allow participants to focus on specific topics and share best practices.
What officer positions will have a track?
President
Recruitment chair
Treasurer
Guide
New member and member education/Road chairman
If I don’t currently hold one of those positions, should I still attend my division conference?
Yes, the division conferences have programming for all undergraduate members. Members who don’t attend one of the officer tracks will participate in the leadership track. This track will focus on The Social Excellence Model developed by Phired Up. The tracks are just a portion of the educational programming.
I found the breakout sessions at the conference beneficial. Will those be offered this year?
Yes, breakout sessions will be offered in addition to tracks. The breakout sessions focus on specific topics likes the FAAR, honor board or academic affairs. These sessions have been rewritten and will provide relevant and important information for chapters.
If our chapter recruitment chairman can’t attend the conference, can I participate in the track for him?
Yes, it would be most beneficial to have the current officer or chairman participate in the track. However, if that person can’t attend you should designate another member to participate in the track for him. Chapters can also have members who are planning to run for the position or serve on a related committee participate in that track.
I am planning to run for the chapter president. Can I attend the track with him?
Yes, you are welcome to participate in a track if you are planning to run for that position. However, chapters should strategize that someone participates in each track. If your chapter is only sending three people, it would be wise to break up and go to different tracks.
We don’t have a member education/Road chairman. Who should participate in the new member/member education track?
New member educators should attend this track and the individual who works closely with member education. If you don’t have a member education or Road chairman yet, consider sending academic affairs or the vice president to this track.
What is the time commitment?
The tracks will be offered on Friday or Saturday, depending on the division, for 4 ½ hours.
Can alumni attend a track?
Alumni programming will be offered for volunteers at the same time as the programming tracks. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in those sessions versus signing up for a track.
Who will teach the officer programming tracks?
Some of the tracks will be facilitated by an alumnus and a campus professional. The treasurer and guide tracks will be facilitate by alumni and Fraternity staff.
What should I bring?
Officers and chairman are encouraged to bring any files or resources with them. It is recommended that new member educators bring their new member manual and recruitment chairs bring their recruitment plans.
