For a sixth year, Delta Tau Delta is offering a leadership experience at sea. The Sailing Leadership Academy is a unique opportunity for Delts that is rarely rivaled by any other fraternity nationwide.

At the Sailing Leadership Academy, the 115 foot Schooner Mary Day becomes your home, classroom, and transportation while traveling in and around Maine's Penobscot Bay. This experiential leadership academy will incorporate both the education of sailing fundamentals with an enhanced leadership program.

While onboard the Schooner Mary Day, Delts become witness to all aspects of operating a Maine Windjammer. Our graduates become involved in all facets of the expedition including ship navigation, course plotting, food preparation, boat maintenance, the raising of anchors and sails, and all other aspects of our operation. The sailing knowledge is complemented daily with a leadership curriculum that will build upon the sailing experience, and will enable its graduates to effectively and confidently lead in their personal and chapter lives. The Sailing Leadership Academy also includes an experience at a ropes course, daily shore trips, and an island cookout.

A non-refundable $250 registration fee is required to confirm participation once the invitation to attend the Sailing Leadership Academy is accepted. After this, all costs associated with attending the Leadership Academy will be paid by the Fraternity.

Here is what Sailing Leadership Academy graduates have to say about their experience:

"Seeing Camden, Maine, appear through the fog was one of the most amazsing experience knowing that we, the Sailing Academy of 2006, brought the Schooner Mary Day back as a team." -- Paul Son, Gamma Mu

"This was the most educational experience I ever had - every minute of every day provided an opporunity for growth and time to learn something new." -- Matt Bowersox, Theta Zeta

"The Sailing Academy was by far the greatest experience of my life. I met 25 great friends and the leadership training will stay with me for the rest of my life." -- Dave Sirey, John Carroll Crescent Colony
