Goal Setting
Before a chapter can move toward improving their academics, they must set a goal to reach by semester’s or quarter’s end. Here are a number of ideas that chapters have submitted.
Individualized Goal Setting: At the outset of the semester or quarter, it is a good idea for members of the chapter to set their desired GPA for that period. The Director of Academic Affairs (DAA) or his Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) can collect these target GPAs through email or have members write them down at the first chapter meeting. The DAA or the AAC can then compile these numbers into a spreadsheet for future use.
Chapter Goal Setting: Once all of the individual goals are collected, the DAA and the AAC can analyze them. It might also be helpful to look at the past few semesters to gauge where the chapter has ranked on campus. After looking at these, the DAA and the AAC can set a goal GPA for the chapter for that semester or quarter.
Campus Goal Setting: When setting the chapter goal, it is a good idea to see where the chapter has ranked in the past on campus. The chapter should strive to lead the All-Fraternity Average GPA on campus, as well as the All-Men’s Average GPA. This way, school officials can recognize that your chapter is committed to academics on your campus. |
