Greg Peoples
Director of Academic Affairs
Greg Peoples is serving his second two-year term on the Arch Chapter as director of academic affairs. He was first elected to this position at the 2004 Karnea in Denver, and then reelected at the 2006 Karnea in Indianapolis.
Peoples has contributed a variety of services to the fraternity. He has been chapter advisor for chapters at Allegheny College and Kettering University (formerly GMI Engineering and Management Institution) and served four years as Northern Division vice president. He also played a vital role in the founding of Theta Xi Chapter at Eastern Michigan University.
In June of 2000, Peoples was cited into the Distinquished Service Chapter at the Karnea in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Professionally, Peoples is the dean of students at Eastern Michigan University. He currently serves as the university ombudsman, advocating for student rights and concerns. He has been a practicing educator for over thirty years. His work in higher education covers a variety of experiences in student services, including admissions, financial aid, housing, and career services.
Peoples is active as a community leader. In 1993 he was awarded the Community Service Award by the Ypsilanti-Willow Run Chapter of the NAACP. He has also been recognized by the Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce as well as the Washtenaw United Way for his leadership in the greater Ypsilanti area. Peoples has served as the vice president of the Hope Medical Clinic Board of Directors, a trustee for Willow Run Board of Education, president of the Lincoln Consolidated School Board, and a board member of the Washtenaw Intermediate School District. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).
Peoples attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in speech and communications. He also earned a master of arts degree in higher education administration from Kent State University.
Peoples is resides in Ypsilanti, Michigan with his wife and their four children. |
