Programs like the Leadership Academy, and DTAA are just a few of our programs. For basic purposes, an Executive member of our organization should expect to spend 6-8 hours a week with the Fraternity. An administrative member can expect 4-6 hours a week. An average member can expect 2-4 hours a week. This time is spent in chapter meetings, committee meetings, service activities, socials, intramurals, etc. How are "Founding Fathers" of a colony selected? For colonizations, recruiters from the expansion teams will interview and select all members of the initial group. To select new members, the recruiters look at character, skills, GPA, campus involvement, service to others, potential, desire, etc. How will a colony know what to do?We will leave each new colony with a specific checklist that will guide a new colony through the process of becoming a chapter. In addition to this checklist, you will be visited twice per semester by your chapter consultant or Director of Expansion to help you work toward you goal. The maximum length for a colony is two years from inception. These alumni draw upon their own experiences as well as being trained as Alumni Advisors by the Central Office. As a values based organization, this behavior contradicts our value of integrity and our mission - Committed to Lives of Excellence. What is Delta Tau Delta's alcohol policy?Delta Tau Delta is not an alcohol free organization. We are dealing with the issue in two ways: Education and Environment. We believe the problem does not lay with the consumption alcohol, but with the abuse and "drunkenness" that result. The Delts Talking About Alcohol (DTAA) program is designed to educate our members about the risks associated with alcohol. With regards to the Environment our members live in, we have challenged our chapters to tell us how they will be dealing with alcohol in their chapter house. By allowing our chapters to make their own decisions regarding alcohol, we can now hold them accountable for their actions and decisions. 100% of our chapters have responded to this challenge by developing standards of behavior with regards to alcohol use and abuse. More on our full stance on alcohol. Is there a GPA requirement for membership in Delta Tau Delta? In order to be an initiated into Delta Tau Delta you must have above a 2.25 GPA. The group can occupy this Shelter if their membership meets the requirements of occupancy for this Shelter. For groups without a Shelter, the group will need to develop before they can really explore the possibilities of obtaining its own Shelter. For groups who can apply for university housing, we will work with both parties to make sure that we can be housed as soon as possible. How does Delta Tau Delta select campuses for expansion?Delta Tau Delta looks at a number of things in deciding on expansion sites. The first thing we look at is the strength of the institution. We look at graduation and acceptance rates, percentage of students living on campus, overall reputation, etc. Following research on the campus, we look at the Greek system. We are looking for an overall strength in the system, risk management policies, a functioning IFC, etc. As well, we make sure that we have enough alumni in the area to support a possible chapter. How is Delta Tau Delta selected to go to campus?Campus selections take place in a variety of ways. We are either chosen by interest groups or we go through a selection process. This selection process is generally run by the Greek Life office and IFC. A normal expansion process includes the solicitation of select organizations, petition submission and expansion presentations. How does Delta Tau Delta staff a colonization?Delta Tau Delta provides over 500 hours of time during a four-week colonization. Generally, the Director of Expansion is on site for 7 - 10 days along with the Consultant responsible for the colonization.
